Puchong Prima isn’t known for being a foodie hub. AFAIK, there’s a KFC, a mamak restaurant, a couple of Chinese kopitiams and Malay eateries – so I was surprised to find a place serving delicious, hearty burgers, hidden just behind Pasaraya OTK. The place is located in a blindspot (I’ve been here multiple times but never noticed they even have shops in this area) – but look for the makeshift signboard across the street from the Petronas gas station, and you’ll find The Fifty One A.

The cafe is fairly new, having relocated from a previous location in Taman Puchong Permai. It seems there were complications with the old spot, as the owner has framed photos of his stall being torn down by the authorities hung on the wall, alongside inspirational quotes. Whatever the case, it seems like they’ve found a new home in this quiet nook, which is good news for me – I don’t have to travel too far to get my burger cravings fixed!

Simple and chill interior, with a few nice touches to spruce up the place.

The Fifty One A offers grilled and fried chicken burgers as well as beef burgers, alongside Malaysian-Western fusion items such as Chicken Chop, Spaghetti, Mac N Cheese, and snacks such as fries and wedges.

What I like is that they’re all affordably priced, with the spicy fried chicken starting from just RM6.50, and the massive tower burger going for RM22.50. If you feel like a big meal, opt for double patties, or top up your burger with egg and beef bacon (the restaurant is Muslim-owned, so it doesn’t serve pork).

Hubs and I both had an early brunch, so we were famished by dinner time. I got the double fried chicken (RM10.50), thinking I’d be able to finish it.

I couldn’t, lol.

There was nothing wrong with the burger – it was really tasty. The fried chicken patties were deep fried to golden perfection, it was not greasy, and the taste was remarkably similar to McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McDeluxe, down to the pepper flavour and the slightly orange batter. The buns were nicely toasted too, with a smattering of creamy cheese sauce to bind everything together.

It’s just that the portion was so humongous, I was full by the time I got through one patty and the buns. The Hubs ended up polishing off the other patty, If you’re a big eater, this is definitely value for money.

The Hubs had the Double Beef with Bacon and Egg (RM18.50). Again, portions were extremely generous – the towering burger looked like it was about to topple when it was served to our table, a skewer holding all the components in place. Eating it was messy, but that’s the joy of savouring tower-style burgers.

With a lot of street style burgers, patties often contain fillers such as flour and breadcrumbs to save on cost, but the version at Fifty One A tastes like it has a substantial amount of beef. It was moist and nicely grilled with a slight char on the outside, juices oozing out with each bite.

For drinks, we shared a glass of Thai Milk Tea (RM6). This was on the sweeter side, but just as well as it helped to wash down the strong flavours from the burgers.

The Fifty One A’s burgers are awesome value for money imo, and tasty too. Definitely coming back here for the fried chicken burgers!
