Best Wood-Fired Pizzas in Town @ Fino Pizza, Subang Parade

The Hubs recently had a hankering for good pizza–so I brought him to Fino, an artisanal pizza parlour that specializes in handmade, wood-fired pizzas. I first tried their pizza at their main outlet in TTDI’s, but the Subang Parade branch does not lose in terms of quality and taste. It’s also much less crowded, and the service is fast, friendly, and efficient.

And here’s what we ordered! Beef pepperoni pizza for the Hubs, a penne carbonara for me, and truffle fries for sharing.

The Hubs is quite picky with his pizza, and he has not been impressed with any of the Pizza Hut / Domino’s variety he’s had since he came to Malaysia.

Fino’s pepperoni pizza, however, got a thumbs up. They are very generous with their toppings; the base was slathered with a good amount of tomato sauce, then layered over with bubbly, gooey cheese and lots of pepperoni. The crust was also thin and crunchy, although a tad soft towards the centre.

Aside from pepperoni, Fino also carries a wide selection of traditional flavours, such as Margherita, Burrata, and Quattro Formagi, as well as unique flavours like “Big Breakfast” (Red base with mozzarella, beef bacon, chicken pepperoni, chicken sausage, egg & parsley), Steak & Cheese, Moroccan Lamb, Beef Satay, and Prawn Omelette.

My carbonara was excellent as well. You can choose from a few types of pasta, such as spaghetti and penne. The pasta was done al dente, giving it a nice bite, and the sauce was creamy but not overpowering. They also had an egg, which is akin to authentic carbonara (the ‘carbonara’ served in many places in the Klang Valley is usually more of an alfredo).

The portion is also humongous, so if you’re a small eater I think you can share this; add on something on the side, and you’ll have a full meal.

The truffle fries were nice and crispy. The seasoning was not even though, so some fries had a stronger truffle flavour, while others were underseasoned. Still, really great to munch on!

To wash it all down, a cold glass of Salted Caramel Latte! Milky and sweet, but not too heavy, it was the perfect end to the meal.

What I like about Fino? The service is impeccable (shout out to the very accomodating and knowledgeable manager on duty that day!), the food is excellent, and best of all, not too expensive (our pepperoni pizza was just RM20.90, which is VERY value for money imo). So stop by if you’re ever in the neighbourhood! Aside from TTDI and Subang, they also have a branch in D’Pulze Cyberjaya.
