Popularised by local brand GoNoodleHouse, mixian – silky rice noodles from the Yunnan province in China – is often served with pork balls and/or pork slices in a clear broth mixed with Chinese Shaoxing wine. While GoNoodleHouse remains a stalwart choice for mixian lovers, Qi Li Xiang Noodle House in Bandar Kinrara 5, Puchong is a good alternative if you want to avoid the crowds.
The bright and cosy interior is characterised by colourful chairs and a modern decor. Aside from mi xian, they also serve other types of dishes such as pork noodles, barbecued pork, fried rice and more.
The signature Mixian with pork slices. It’s actually very similar to the GoNoodle House version! Noodles were silky smooth and slightly chewy, and ou also get that velvety taste of Chinese wine in the soup. Loved that they give you a whole bottle of wine at the table so you can add it to your soup, with no extra charge. The pork slices were also very tender. A bowl here is RM 10, which is much cheaper than at GoNoodle House.
If you don’t like Chinese wine (or can’t take it, like the Moo), you can opt for the clear soup. The bursting pork balls that came with Moo’s order were humongous; each bouncy and filled with minced meat and savoury soup on the inside.
Spicy lovers will want to go for the Tom Yum base. Not authentic but who cares as long as its tasty lol
Bro’s hand shredded pan mee, topped with bits of fried lard. Pan Mee (also known as mee hoon kueh) is a Hokkien Chinese dish of wheat flour noodles which can be thin, thick or shredded.
For snacks, fried foochok (RM6 – 10 pieces). Bit on the oily side but still addictive
Fried chicken wings were nicely seasoned and moist, but steeply priced at RM4 each for a small wing.
