Where there are college students, there will be food – and there’s definitely no shortage of places to eat at SS15, Subang. There’s the Asia Cafe foodcourt for those looking for 24-hour cheap grub, the usual mamak haunts, burger joints, hipster cafes, and a McDs + Starbucks.
The plan was to meet up with N for some Taiyaki, but since we got there early we decided to have dinner too. After walking around for a bit, we went for Good Friends Cafe, since a friend of ours said the food was good. The inside is spacious but cosy, typical cafe setting.
The food was really pricey O-o. We got stuff to share – namely the basic creamy marinara penne + add-on chicken ham slices. It came sprinkled over with cheese powder. Tastewise, pretty good; pasta was al dente, sauce was creamy and full of tomato flavour. Portion was big enough for the two of us.
What I really liked was one of their appetisers. Forgot the name but it was a mushroom ‘dip’ with toasted slices of crunchy bread. The dip had a soup-like consistency and was creamy and chock full of mushrooms, with a dash of fragrant olive (?) oil. Super addictive! Can even be eaten as a stand-alone meal.
The place does serve good food, but for the prices they charge, I think it’ll be awhile before I come back to try more dishes.
