Mi and I went to Sunway Pyramid for some Japanese food at Sushi King. She rarely splurges on nice food since she’s always saving for the household, so this was my treat.

The outlet here uses tablets to take orders, just like their rival sushi shop, Sakae Sushi. While it may be convenient for the tech-savvy, I think older people (like Mi) will have a hard time placing their orders.Also, some of the dishes are categorised according to names like Agemono andDonburi, so it can be confusing if you are not familiar with Japanese cuisine. I had to flip through it one by one, which is more troublesome than having a proper menu.

Other than that, it was convenient because you had all the buttons for calling for the bill, waiter, etc. just one touch away!

Soft shell crab temaki @RM5. Japanese rice is wrapped up in a seaweed roll with a serving of deep fried soft shell crab, fish roe, mayonaise and sliced vegetables. Yummy!

Mi had the mixed bento set, which came with deep fried salmon basted in teriyaki sauce, fried chicken cutlets (which were cooked to perfection and very crispy! Definitely one of the better fried chicken dishes i have tasted) and mixed fish balls.

I had fat, chewy udon served with a side of assorted tempura, including green beans, eggplant, sweet potato and ebi (shrimp). Comfort food for a cold day 🙂
