What do you get when you put some of Malaysia’s biggest comedy stars and rising talents together for a five-day comedy extravaganza?

Find out at the inaugural PJ Comedy Festival 2026 as 29 comedians and 11 newcomers present a series of stand-ups, improv bits, storytelling showcases, and more at DeStage @ The Square Jaya One Petaling Jaya, from 29 July to 2 August 2026.

Organised together with Kam Productions, The PJ Comedy Festival will be the first major comedy show at the iconic venue (formerly PJ Live Arts) since the pandemic. It’s an apt new beginning – theatre kids and fans of comedy around the late 2000s and 2010 will surely recall all the big names that have graced its stage, from Harith Iskander and Joanne Kam, to Douglas Lim, Kavin Jay, and more.

What to Expect at The PJ Comedy Festival

Designed as a celebration of Malaysia’s diverse and multicultural comedy scene, PJ Comedy Fest 2026 will feature nine unique shows across two DeStage’s Studio and Main Theatre Hall performance spaces. Aside from English, there will also be shows in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Tamil.

Headline attractions include the highly anticipated Comedy Gala (1 Aug 2026, Sat, 8.30pm) , featuring Joanne Kam, Shamaine Othman, Kavin Jay, Andrew Netto, Papi Zak, Fattah Azeem, Ruoh Peng, and Mad Sabah. Other big names like Kuah Jenhan, K-Shao and the hilarious trio of Brian Tan, Prakash Daniel and Keren Bala Devan, will also be taking to the stage.

Farid Azmeir’s show Azmeir (30 July 2026, Thurs, 8.30pm) , performed in Malay as the character of his late father who was blind, will be something to watch out for (pun intended).

Meanwhile, Piravina Ragunathan’s Kanni Rassi: A Tamil Stand Up Comedy (1 August 2026, 6.30pm) , will be back by popular demand. If you like improv and inside jokes, then you’re in for a treat at the acclaimed Pinball Monkeys improv troupe show, happening on 31 July (Friday, 8.30pm).

The festival will conclude with a family-friendly production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream by EM Drama, performed by a very talented cast of teenage performers.
