Coffee enthusiasts in Singapore now have a new spot to grab their cup of joe, as Californian brand Blue Bottle Coffee debuts at Lumine Raffles City – it’s first outpost in Southeast Asia.

A widely recognised name in the third-wave coffee scene, the brand started off as a small coffee cart in Oakland in 2002, before gradually expanding into the specialty coffee powerhouse it is today, with close to 100 stores across the United States as well as major foodie cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Shanghai.

What’s on the Drinks Menu

Expect to find Blue Bottle Coffee’s signature blends and espresso-based beverages, including classics like the Americano (S$7.50), Cappuccino (S$8), Latte (S$8.50) and Mocha (S$9.50).

For those who prefer an icy bev, there’s the signature Cold Brew (S$7.50) and New Orleans-Style Coffee (S$8), cold brewed with roasted chicory, and blended with milk and organic cane sugar.

The coffee at Blue Bottle is sustainably sourced and fulfills specialty-grade standards, ie they’ve registered 80 points or higher on a 100-point scale.

Most of these are certified organic and highly traceable, which means that they are often sourced from a select group of producers that the company has worked with for over five years or more. Roasting is also done to order in small batches to ensure quality and freshness.

There’s something for non-coffee drinkers too: refreshing options include Lemon Yuzu Fizz (S$8.50), Kimino Sparkling Apple Juice (S$7.50), and Kimino Sparkling Peach Juice (S$7.50), and you can also take your pick from comforting favourites like Matcha Latte (S$9.50) and Hot Chocolate (S$9).

Handcrafted Pastries

Complementing the beverages are freshly baked artisanal viennoiseries from local company Bakery Brera, so you’ll get to enjoy pastries you won’t find in any other Blue Bottle Coffee around the world.

Go for Singapore-inspired creations such as the Coconut Kouign-Amann (S$8), and Pandan Canelé with Kaya (S$6), or opt for timeless classics like Pain au Chocolat (S$8), Almond Croissant (S$8), and Triple Cheese & Turkey Croissant (S$8) which are always great pairings with coffee.

A space to connect

Perhaps as appealing as its specialty coffee and pastries is Blue Bottle’s space. Spanning 135-sqm, the cafe has an open layout with a U-shaped island bar, so guests can sidle up to the counter, watch the baristas in action and enjoy warm, personal interactions.

The cream white and blue colour scheme is modern yet warm, with white oak furniture, leather accents and a stainless steel bar completing the setup.

Giving the space a further local touch, the cafe has also collaborated with homegrown floral studio The Florté to introduce seasonal arrangements to the space, inspired by the flower markets of Covent Garden.

In short: a wonderful space whether you’re looking to unwind quietly over a great cup of coffee, share moreish pastries with friends, or simply soak in the creative atmosphere as you work.
