**You know I rarely write about stuff like this when I can’t find a category to fit it under 😛
Hey guys! I’m not sure if any of you are aware (since I rarely post selfies here) but I don’t have very good skin.
When I was in my early 20s, it was so bad I had to take isotretinoin pills to control it. The acne cleared up, but it had terrible side effects on my emotional wellbeing (ie I became depressed and shit). Fast forward a couple of years: I don’t eat the pills anymore, (still depressed but for entirely different reasons lol) so I still get occasional breakouts/acne, especially when that time of the month draws near.
Now.
Some of my friends swear by facials, which they go to religiously every month. Apparently you have to go on a regular basis in order to see any effect, although many med journals will tell you that it’s all absolute bullshit and that any benefits you get are purely short term. I’ve always been curious but haven’t had the motivation (or the money, ha) to try it up until now. It started off with me looking for a place for a cheap massage, but they also had facial packages so I figured what the heck, right?
Faboso Beauty is located on the second floor of a shoplot in Taman Meranti Jaya, Puchong. There are actually several beauty parlours in the area; I chose this coz it also had cheap massages.
Place looked neat and clean enough. There were partitioned treatment rooms at the back, curtained for privacy. Shelves were lined with the usual beauty /facial products.
The staff did not speak English very well, so I had to communicate in my broken Mandarin lol. Anyway, ended up getting one of their cheapest facial packages (Upgraded Rossy Facial – RM98 – the most basic one is RM68) + a one hour ‘full body’ massage. You then fill up a form stating your preferences for the massage (strong, medium or light) as well as any skin conditions you might have.
Cosy-looking interior.
The massage was up first, so I went into the room and changed. The space was rather cramped, so even though my masseuse was petite, it was difficult for her to maneuver around to the left side (between the wall and the bed). She was skilled at pinning down the stress points, especially around the shoulders but I wouldn’t call it a ‘full-body’ per se since very little time was spent on the legs/arms/back (it was mostly the shoulders).
Next was the facial, which comprised many different steps. First, a cleanse, a moisturizer and a scrub was applied in quick succession. The staff then adjusted a steam machine which blasted vapour in my face. Sat there for several minutes as beads of water formed slowly on the surface. This was followed by an extraction process where the blackheads/whiteheads are removed. Then a thick and minty-fresh clay mask, and several other layers of idk-what slathered onto my face before one final moisturizing session.
Good thing is they give you a thick blanket while you’re doing the facial.
Skin did feel bouncier and more supple immediately after (this effect was gone by the next day), so I guess it is true what they say about facials being a short-term thing and more of something to pamper yourself. That being said, it was a nice experience and I’d go back again if I had money to splurge.
PS: Aside from the good service, I really like that they don’t try and sell you packages that run into the thousands – each session is strictly per pay basis only.
