Ok, that title’s terrible. Sorry. 😀

We last checked in to our basic but comfy hotel, the Frutta Boutique Hotel, which is tucked into a quiet alleyway. The main road is busy, with lots of scooters and tangled poles of electric cables (they’re not as bad as Vietnam, but yeah).

We were waiting for our 9am pickup, so we hopped on over to.. guess what? A 7-11 down the road. There are hundreds of these convenience stores everywhere on the island, so you’ll never need to worry about getting your essentials!

Pork stuff is not easy to find in Malaysia, so we were psyched to try their pork flavoured instant noodles, which cost about 20-30B. I went for the ‘Stewed Pork Flavour’, which came with a package of seasoning and actual bits of dried pork and mushrooms in gravy, which you can pour over the noodles. Ahmaze. There was hot water for us to cook the noodles, so we stood there and had our breakfast. 🙂

Rilakkuma is a popular character at all their 7-11s. Since we bought stuff, they gave us some coupons which we exchanged for a toasted sandwich. I think it was condensed milk and some sort of stringy meat, but we didn’t finish it because the combination was weird.

But other than that, the noodles were amazing. Springy, full of flavour, big portion and tasty. Wish we had these here in Malaysia!  I’ve never come across a pork-flavoured instant noodle here before, to be honest.

Still felt a bit peckish, and lo and behold, there was a street stall just outside the 7-11! They sold skewered meat on sticks, so I got a pork piece for just 10B (RM1.20). It had a sweet and glazed teriyaki flavour.

Here are some useful words to know when ordering food in Thai:

• Chicken – Gai
• Pork – Moo
• Beef – Nuer

After our bellies were all filled up, we were ready to take on whatever Phuket had in store for us!
