CHRISTMAS is less than a week away, and then we’ll be ushering in a brand new year! To wrap up 2014, we were invited to sample some of the delights available at the New Year’s Eve Walk N Eat Buffet Adventure @Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, which will be available on Dec 31 only. On that day, guests can pay one price and be privy to hundreds of dishes from the hotel’s FOUR restaurants – Zest, Summer Palace Chinese Restaurant, Midori Japanese Restaurant and Tuscany Italian Restaurant & Pizza Bar.

To start off the night, we had appetisers of smoked duck breast, which were done just right with a balanced amount of fat and lean meat. The duck was savoury and well-marinated without being too salty.

Moving on, we tried some cute finger food in glasses  cherry tomatoes and cheese, tuna and salmon sushi on sticks, and veggie nibbles of carrot, cucumber and celery.

A must-try according to the chef – slow-roasted lamb over a bed of rice infused with peas, carrots and raisins. The lamb was fall-off-the bone tender and marinated in a blend of 20 spices such as garlic, pepper, cumin and chilli powder.

For the Chinese food lovers, there was a live action station where we got to select our own fresh prawns, which were then cooked on the spot in a herbal soup. The prawns were large and juicy, and the soup was clear and flavourful with herbs such as dong guai and wolfberries.

Chocolate mousse in delicate cups. Beautiful done and oh-so-smooth it just slips down your throat.
