While I’ve flown Malaysia Airlines countless times, I’ve never had the pleasure (nor the budget) to experience Business Class until recently, when a bunch of media including myself were flown over to Singapore for an event. Granted, it was a super short flight, but at least now I can say I’ve experienced Business Class on our country’s national carrier.

Business class passengers enjoy exclusive access to the Golden Lounge at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, where they can chill and dine before the flight. There are two Golden Lounges in KLIA, so here’s my experience at the Regional lounge.

The spacious lounge, which looked like a hotel lobby, was tastefully decorated, modern and classy. For the buffet breakfast selection at the counter, there were salads, pastries and simple fare such as baked beans, sausages, fried eggs, nasi lemak and mee goreng. There was also a coffee corner, and a bar serving alcoholic beverages.

Grabbing a quick bite of scrambled egg, steamed dimsum, hashbrown, yoghurt and fruit and some juice.

I then adjourned to a quiet corner for privacy, sinking into a couch with a book. All the couches come with an arm rest/small table for you to place your belongings, as well as USB charging ports.

Nothing like a frothy cappucino sweetened with honey to kickstart the day!

While I can’t compare because I’ve never been to any premium lounges other than this one, my experience at Malaysia Airline’s Golden Lounge was a pleasant one. Still waiting on the day I’d be rich enough to fly business class regularly (or have my own private jet!) but until then, I’ll take what I can get.
