Cute Animals @ Pet World Malaysia 2017, Mid Valley Exhibition Center Kuala Lumpur

It was a long weekend thanks to the Nuzul Al-Quran holiday (good thing about living in Malaysia – you get holidays for everything. Chinese New Year, Muslim holidays, Wesak, Deepavali, Christmas, etc. :D). C asked if I wanted to go to the Pet World Malaysia 2017 happening at Mid Valley Exhibition Center in KL, and I didn’t have anything else to do in the afternoon so it was a yes. We brought her pet Chihuahua, Genie, along.

Didn’t bring a carrier, so Genie sat on my lap throughout the drive. She was very quiet; probably wondering if it was a journey to the dreaded vet lol.

Returning for its 10th year, the event is touted as the ‘largest pet exhibition’ in the country and was held at MVEC, which had plenty of floor space. There was an entrance fee of RM5. Place was pretty packed out, but we saw lots of cuties!

Pet owners were having fun introducing their dogs to each other and making new friends. Not sure about how the dogs felt though.. it was crowded and noisy enough for me, a human, let alone a small doggo who has senses of smell and hearing much more acute than mine.

Booths sold mainly pet products such as pet shampoo, food, treats, leashes, carriers, etc.

One of the grooming booths had this magnificent dog with long, soft and curly fur. When it flopped down I could easily have mistaken it for being a rug!

Corgi doggo.

Pug in pram. Most of the dogs were well behaved and no fights broke out.. at least not during our visit.

Not real fish, made from resin. They looked so life like tho!

Cat section. They were mostly in cages 😦 except when their owners took them out for grooming.

There was a corner dedicated to insect lovers. Look at this giant Rhinoceros beetle! It was really shiny and wasn’t moving, so I thought it was fake.. turns out they were real. The sticky bits on the stump was actually sugar-water + honey made into jelly, which they eat.

Show pigeons. Again, from afar,  I thought these were fake coz they weren’t in a cage.. until they started moving and plumping their breasts out.  Sooooo fluffy.

A sort of soft shelled turtle from the Amazon. I held it in my hand and it was cold, soft and squishy.

Balls of hamsters.

Some sort of flying fish with dragon wings.

We waited til 1.30PM so that C and Genie could have a Chihuahua photo session! We got a can of beef to take home.

A very fluffy and somewhat sad husky.

Til next post!

Bow Wow – Dog-Friendly Neighbourhood Cafe in Puchong

For many dog owners, their furkids are part of the family – but they might not always be able to bring them out beyond a stroll around the neighbourhood or at the park. Fret not – there’s a new cafe in town where the pets can socialise while their humans tuck into delicious, comforting food.

Bow Wow Cafe is a dog cafe in the commercial district of Bandar Puchong Jaya, just next to Moonlight Cake House. Located on the first floor, the spacious restaurant is clean and offers a safe environment for pets and humans alike.

I came here with C, who also brought her chihuahua, Genie. To make sure there aren’t any untoward ‘accidents’, there are rules to follow – eg male dogs must wear belly bands for hygienic purposes, while female dogs should be wearing diapers.

Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by a very large, beautiful husky with curious blue eyes, while in the background, dozens of smaller toy dogs were running around, sniffing each others’ buttholes.  I was surprised to find that it was very clean – no poop or pee anywhere, or even that wet dog smell. There are also hand sanitisers for the humans.

Hard to catch a photo coz they were all running around excitedly. There were poodles, corgis, shih-tzus, beagles, huskies, pugs and Bichon Frisses.  Most of the dogs were well behaved, and the staff didn’t have to break up too many fights. Btw, the staff here are very friendly and well-trained at handling dogs! 🙂

Idk what breed she is, but soooo flufffffyyy.

Pug photos lining the walls. Glorious.

Genie, on the other hand, was not very well behaved. It might have to do with her injury because apparently the groomer wasn’t careful enough and accidentally nicked her stomach, so she was still bleeding a little. Despite C telling me she had brought her here on several occasions, Genie was scared and stuck to C almost the whole time. She was okay with humans, but Whenever other dogs approached, she would bark and growl at them ferociously.

I think we need some Caesar Milan over here. xD

The place also sells pooch-related merchandise. A bit pricey though.

After having our fill of playing with cute dogs, it was time to fill… our stomachs! Bow Wow serves Western and fusion cuisine, the likes of soups, pastas, grilled items and more. C had a nice, hot cup of tea..

While I went for a cold, refreshing chocolate caramel. The drink was thick with the flavour of cocoa and caramel – none of that watered-down stuff you get from some cafes.

I had the Bangers N Mash , which had 1 German Pepper sausage and 2 Bavarian Bratwurst sausages on a giant bed of mashed potatoes, served with salad and brown onion sauce.

It was really good! The sausages were thick and juicy, while the mashed potato was flavoured just right without being too mushy or salty. My only qualms? The gravy wasn’t enough. I would have finished a whole bowl of it. lol.

C had homemade meatballs served with garlic bread and sofrito sauce. Even though it was under the tapas/appetisers section, the serving was big enough to be a main dish. The crispy, toasted garlic bread slices were perfect for dipping into the tangy sauce, which had loads of tomato and tasted very much like a refreshing salsa. The meatballs were also phenomenal. Juicy on the inside, with a smokey, grilled taste on the outside. You could also taste a hint of herbs in the blend of meat. Highly recommended! 😉 20160522_203504-tile

Overall – the food is great at Bow Wow, but what makes it a cool place is the entire experience of dining and chilling with your furry friends as well as other pet lovers. The place is also clean, the staff is friendly and the service is good as well. 10/10 would come again!
