Tucked in a quiet commercial area in Bandar Puteri Puchong, Qian Xi Lou Restaurant is a good choice if you’re looking for a decent and affordable ‘dai chow’ (Cantonese stir-fried) dinner. The resto itself is air-conditioned but no frills, with about five tables inside and two more outdoors.

Food is served fast and hot.
First up: claypot tofu with seafood and vegetables. The ingredients were all fresh and well seasoned, and the consistency was not starchy.

My favourite of the night was the deep fried pork marinated in nam yu (red fermented bean curd). The ratio of lean and fat was perfect, the exterior was crispy, and the meat was tender and well marinated, with the nam yu giving it a creamy, earthy taste.

The salt and pepper squid was excellent as well; springy and bouncy in texture, coated in a light and crispy batter, and seasoned well. No complaints here!

The rest of the fam had rice to pair with their dishes, while I got stir fried noodles which came chock full of vegetables, egg, slices of Chinese sausage, and shrimp.
All in all, the food at Qian Xi Lou is tasty and good value for money, with generous portions. Our meal for five came up to just over RM100, inclusive of drinks.
