Update: This restaurant is permanently closed.
With limited food options around the office, I’m always game to try out new places! The latest spot is Melbiez, tucked in a corner of PJ State, just across the road from the PKNS building. They have value-for-money set lunches, although options are rather limited.
Small, cosy space. Going with the ‘industrial’ look, the interior sports black walls and brick accents, wooden tables and an open, ‘exposed’ ceiling.
A small private glass-walled room sits int he corner.
On my first visit, I tried the Carbonara Spaghetti, which comes with several choices, including seafood and smoked duck. Portions were very generous and offers plenty of value for its price – there were a good five slices of thick, smoked duck meat. There were also sliced button mushrooms. Tastewise, the spaghetti was done al dente with a slight bite, and the creaminess was not too cloying.
Set meals come with a drink. I had hot honey chrysanthemum tea.
On my second visit, I had spaghetti again, but Marinara this time. Again, portion was very generous, I couldn’t finish it. The marinara was a tad too sweet, but a decent dish overall. Service is friendly and I think the price is very reasonable, given the setting (air conditioned), ambience and food quality.
