When it comes to healthy food, there’s always a stereotype that it’s bland and tasteless as less salt/sugar/seasoning is used. So when Moo brought me to this cafe called Mama Kim in Bandar Puchong Jaya, I was a little apprehensive.

The cafe is tucked into an industrial area, surrounded by car factories and manufacturing plants If you’re not familiar with the place it might be easy to miss! Just look out for the brown building which houses a tranquil-looking spa next door and you’ll find Mama Kim.

Nice, relaxing space, both outdoor and indoor with loads of plants and greenery.

Priding itself in serving healthy, balanced meals cooked with less salt, seasoning, starch and MSG, they have stuff like Western food, noodles, rice and hotpot dishes. Despite its location, the place was very popular with the lunch crowd. By the time we got our food around 12-ish, the place was packed to the brim with customers.Service was a tad slow (or maybe we were just too hungry!).

Moo and Bruh had the Baked Cheesy Mushroom Rice (RM13.70), which was a bed of brown rice topped with brocolli, cauliflower, tomato, potatoes and oyster mushrooms baked over with a beautiful cheesy layer. I regretted not ordering it coz it was really good! The mushrooms were moist and sealed underneath a melty layer of cheese, which was slightly hard on top but oozy at the bottom. The flavour was just right and not too salty.

My Seafood Cantonese Noodles (RM15.90) was a disappointment. They did give me lots of veges, some shrimp, mussel, tofu, crab meat sticks and fish cakes, but the broth was so bland it was like having noodles in water. The seafood was bland as well. Not my favourite dish of the day.

Price-wise, it is quite expensive to dine here but once in awhile, when your inner health freak beckons.  I would go for their mushroom rice next time though.
