Christmas holidays have officially started! Time for some well-earned R&R. Took Mi for breakfast at our regular dimsum joint, Zok Noodle House in Bandar Puteri Puchong. I’ve been craving dumplings for the longest time, so…
Craving satisfied!
There’s only one English word to describe all these mini packets of happiness: ‘dumpling’. It doesn’t do them justice because there are so many variations of it! There’s the siew loong bao (mini dragon buns); with a thin, transclucent skin and savoury broth on the inside. You eat it by poking a hole in the skin and slurping up the soup before dipping the rest in vinegar and sliced ginger.
Har gao with succulent pieces of shrimp. They’re very simple – just shrimp wrapped in smooth, slightly transparent skin.
Last but not least, siew mai – a mix of minced pork and shrimp wrapped in sweet yellow dumpling wrappers.
No dumpling meal would be complete without some Kampong Koh garlic chilli sauce. Tangy, spicy and guaranteed to give you that extra kick.
Mi also had egg noodle soup. The ones at Zok are pretty good as they have a bouncy and silky texture with just a hint of lye.
Served with steamed chicken in soy sauce. Plate looked old though 😀
Finished it off with deep fried sesame balls stuffed with sweet lotus paste.
Prices are reasonable as all of the above only costs about Rm30.
