The year is coming to an end and I’ve been pigging out .__.
Went to help H out at her event in Mid Valley Megamall. Everytime I come here I stop by at Hanamaru Udon, which serves ‘fast-food style’ Japanese food. They also have a branch in Cyberjaya (review here). Had my usual order of Ontama Bukkake Udon (RM8.80 – small). How it works: there are different ‘self-service’ stations. You start off by ordering a bowl of noodles, then move on to a fried items counter where you can pick anything from Chicken and Fish Tempura to Chicken Karaage and ebi tempura.
The place was packed and the server was rushing, so they only gave me a little broth. ._.
Add ons: ebi tempura, chicken karaage and chicken sausage. I think the fried stuff had been lying around for some time before lunch as the items were cold and not crispy. 😡 They usually do better.
If you like your fried tempura but are a bit of a cheapo, they have a huge bucket of crispy tempura batter (leftovers from the fried items) at the self-service station. Just ladle some into a bowl and pour over light soy sauce for that extra crunch to your springy noodles.

Had lunch at Buns & Meat in Sg Besi with colleagues. Have been here before, food was pretty good (review here) , but the service this time around was really terrible.
(Above) H and C had the Runny Mess burger: pork patty topped with oozy, cheesy sauce, fatty bacon slices and poached egg,and salted fries.
I had the Fried Chicken Burger. Topped with coleslaw, the patty was crunchy but rather bland.
The cafe was close to empty on a weekday, but even so, the service sucked. Terribly. Waiters stood around and idled while we waited 20 minutes for our chocolate brownie + ice-cream to be served. When it finally came, we were told that the ‘ice-cream had melted’, so they gave us a replacement in a cup. lol.
We also ordered a Lemon Cake, which was just sitting there in the display case. I think they decided to serve both desserts together, as they only took it out to cut when the brownies were ready. Colleagues and I got pissed off because we were in a hurry to leave and how difficult is it to cut a friggin slice of cake that it takes 20 minutes?
Foodwise, Buns & Meat delivers but if the service is like this when the cafe is close to empty, I’d hate to think how it’s like when the place is packed. Heard the table next to us complaining about long waiting time as well.

Some random Indomie with fried egg from the mamak near my place to end this post. 🙂
