SO you’re in Bandar Putri, Puchong and you don’t know what to have for lunch. Cafe meals are at least Rm10++, but you want to sit in the comfort of an air-conditioned restaurant… decisions, decisions.
If you’re looking for a comfy dining environment and cheap/filling meals, Xian Xian restaurant has all that and more. They specialise in fish head and seafood dishes, but they also have really affordable single pax meals like fried rice and fried noodles for the lunch crowd.
Moo and I initially wanted to go to another nearby cafe, but it was closed for the long weekend so we popped into Xian Xian after seeing how cheap their food was. It’s hard pressed to find fried noodles and rice with side dishes for less than Rm10 in an air con resto these days!
Inside was typical of a Chinese restaurant, with red table cloths, wooden chairs and spacious dining area. The walls were green and decorated with overblown pictures of their specialty dishes.
On our server’s recommendation, I had fresh fruit juice – orange, apple and carrot (RM5). Considering that the serving was generous and it was concentrated and pulpy, I’d say it’s value for money. 🙂 I had the option of customising it too: less sugar and less ice.
Mum had fried rice, with bits of crab, egg and chopped beans, which was tasty.
I had stir fried ginger onion deer meat (RM7.50). The meat was a bit too chewy, but taste-wise it was passable. The portion was big too.
At the end of the meal, they gave us complimentary dessert – herbal jelly!
Judging from the dishes we tried, not everything is very tasty, but if you want a quick, filling (and cheap) lunch, Xian Xian Resto is a good place to go.
